At Legion Martial Arts, our mission goes far beyond kicks and punches — we're here to help students of all ages grow stronger in mind, body, and character. Since opening in Gambrills, we've built a community that values discipline, respect, fitness, and self-defense in a fun, structured environment where every student can thrive.
Led by Master Isaac (Ignacio Chevez Jr.), a 5th-degree black belt and licensed international master under Kukkiwon, Legion Martial Arts offers world-class Taekwondo instruction for kids, teens, and adults, along with a supportive afterschool program for elementary students. Master Isaac brings years of experience — including training in South Korea at Keimyung University with elite sparring, poomsae, and demonstration teams — to ensure each class blends traditional technique with modern teaching that inspires confidence and lifelong growth.

About Master Isaac
Ignacio Chevez Jr., also known as Master Isaac, is a 5th Degree Kukkiwon-certified Taekwondo black belt and a Kukkiwon 3rd Class Master with over 20 years of martial arts experience.
Master Isaac began his Taekwondo training in 2005 and has dedicated his life to developing both his own martial arts abilities and the next generation of martial artists. Throughout his training, he has gained experience in Wing Chun and has competed in tournaments across multiple disciplines, including Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
As an instructor, Master Isaac believes that martial arts is about far more than physical technique. His goal is to help students develop the character and life skills that will serve them both inside and outside the dojang. Through Taekwondo, students are encouraged to build confidence, discipline, perseverance, respect, responsibility, and honor.
Master Isaac strives to create an environment where students are challenged to grow, encouraged to overcome obstacles, and taught to become not only better martial artists, but better people.

I highly recommend this school. He offers multiple martial art programs. My 11 yr old followed him for his kickboxing classes. She is the only child/female in the class. He, and the other students, have treated her as an equal. Everyone is welcoming, helpful, inclusive, and respectful. Master Isaac is an amazing instructor and is wonderful with children.
We couldn't be happier with Legion Martial Arts. Master Isaac is incredibly kind. He really sees everyone's individual needs and provides great hands-on instruction. The studio is always clean and welcoming, the pricing is great, and they offer so much more than just martial arts including day camps and summer camps. This place is amazing!!! My son is 3.5 and very few places offer classes for this age. Not only do they offer classes but they do amazing. My son has learned discipline and athleticism. They are able to teach prek type skills like counting, colors and following directions too!!! Love this place.

Very welcoming place! The teacher has a very good method and is patient when explaining whatever we're working on. As a woman I feel totally comfortable in these classes, don't be intimidated from joining just because of your gender!!

Took my kids in late December 2024 when they just opened. I was surprised and amazed how professional he is and the way he teaches my kids with a lot of patience. Most important part is my kid likes him very much and is having so much fun. You won't be disappointed with Master Isaac! Highly recommend.
